UNAAQ MISSION

UNNAQ aims to promote and support arts and culture in Nunavut, with an emphasis on Inuit-led artistic initiatives.

GOALS

The goals of UNAAQ are:

  1. To support the creation of artistic projects that reflect Inuit culture, language, values, and traditions;
  2. To build the capacity of Inuit and Nunavummiut creative professionals, supporting their work and careers in the arts, and engaging the next generation of artistic professionals in the territory;
  3. To promote Inuit artistic creations throughout Canada, showcasing and bringing awareness to Inuit culture and artistic abilities;
  4. To unify Inuit across Canada through the arts, further fostering a sense of community.

UNAAQ AIMS TO MEET THESE GOALS BY:

  1. Supporting and promoting artistic projects by Nunavut residents that prioritize Inuit language, arts, and culture;
  1. Organizing events that bring together Inuit creators from across the circumpolar North to support, promote, inspire, and celebrate Inuit creativity, imagination, and ingenuity;
  1. Conducting workshops and trainings in arts disciplines.

ABOUT UNAAQ

Unaaq Cultural Society (UNAAQ) is a grassroots not-for-profit organization established in Iqaluit, Nunavut in 2013 created to support and promote Inuit arts and culture. UNAAQ is made up of a board of Inuit and non-Inuit arts professionals and language experts and involves local community members, across Nunavut, in all projects we undertake.
